Your car will break down at least more than once in your lifetime. As a matter of fact the Automobile Association of America (AAA), has stated that they deal with about 29 to 30 million roadside calls for help each year from people stranded on the highways.
Triple A can certainly help you out when you are in a serious bind, but its still important to keep your own emergency kit handy – especially when the situations are not as large. Here are 5 things that should always be in your car:
1. Jumper Cables
Dead batteries are one of the main reasons people get stuck on the side of the road. Keep jumper cables handy to give you the charge you need to get back on the road.
Breakdowns can happen at night too – so make sure you can see! If you plan on keeping a conventional flashlight in your car, remember to swap in new batteries often.
3. Spare Tire
If you know how to change a flat tire, a spare can save you the trouble of calling triple A. Keep a spare tire on hand in case you run into a tire issue on the road.
4. Tow Rope
Keeping a tow rope in car could help you out when you are stuck in snow. Of course another car/truck is required but regardless a tow rope could be useful in the winter months.
5. First Aid Kit
Safety first! You should always keep a first aid kit in your car for those non-vehicle emergencies.
